Kindling the Moon was a fun read for me. The author creates an interesting world where Earthbound demons walk among us and magical orders exist. Kindling the Moon is the story of a young woman forced to live in hiding under an assumed name because of her parents’ involvement in a series of high profile murders. Her current identity is Arcadia Bell and she is a bartender and part owner of the Tambuku Tiki Lounge (love that name!), a hangout for Earthbound demons. Kindling the Moon introduces part owner of the demon-friendly Tambuku Tiki Lounge., and magician, Arcadia ‘Cady’ Bell. For the last seven years Cady has kept a low profile, avoiding the notoriety of her parents, two runaway renegade occultists accused of heinous crimes, but when they resurface her peaceful life is shot to hell. Kindling the Moon by Jenn Bennett is the first book in the Arcadia Bell urban fantasy series, which came highly recommended by one of my favorite authors, Lucy Parker. She first mentioned it when I asked for book recs similar to my all-time favorite Ilona Andrews, and it was brought up again recently.
